Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a reservation? Walk-ins are always welcome during studio hours until 6 pm, because we need time to clean up the studio and let our people go home or get ready for "After Hours" events. Our busiest days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, however, and you should probably call ahead to make sure there's a table available if you have 5 or more people in your group.
How much does it cost to paint pottery? Prices for each unglazed ceramic piece are as low as $15 for our smallest pieces (most suitable for children or as quirky desk ornaments), but most fall in the $18-$24 range. This price covers "everything" (the bisque pottery, studio time, glazes, kiln time, handling, storage, etc.) except tax.
How long does it take to paint something? Most painters can finish a piece in an hour or so, but we've also seen 5-6 hour marathon sessions and sometimes coming back multiple times over the course of months to finish a project. It depends entirely on the artist, the project, and their vision. It can be as big (or little) of a project as you want it to be.
When will my pottery be ready? We run our kilns on most weekdays Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. It can take up to 1-2 weeks (in busy summer months, it may take longer). You can always text your photos to us at 479-283-0914, to check on the status of your pieces.
Will we get a reminder when our pottery is ready to pick up? For qualifying purchases of $20 or more, the receipt holder, if enrolled in our notifications, rewards, and reminders program will receive an automated courtesy reminder. However, whether you receive a text reminder or not, it is the customer's responsibility to pick up their pieces.
If I can't pick up my artwork right away, how long do you keep it? No sweat. After your pieces are fired, we will keep them on our front shelves for 90 days. After 90 days from date of purchase, they are legally abandoned and will be kept only at our discretion and as space permits. We hate seeing artwork being abandoned, so don't forget to pick up your pieces! We recommend setting up reminders on your email or phones! If you do forget to pick up your piece, you can still text us images of your pieces, and we can see if we still have them.
What if I can’t finish my piece in a single sitting? No problem! We will store unfinished pieces for up to 90 days. We don't charge for keeping your pieces, but if more than 90 days pass without work on a project, we'll consider the work abandoned.
Is my pottery food safe? Dishwasher safe? Microwave? Yes to all! However, keep in mind that ceramics risk cracking at high temperatures. They are never stove safe.
I am a perfectionist. Will my pottery be perfect? Follow the directions! Use 2-3 coats of paint to get a solid color with no brush strokes. Do not over-apply paint, mix with water, or try to cover up mistakes. Ask for help! There is always someone in the studio to help you with your project. We also offer a variety of tools, including stencils, tape/straight edges, and sponges.
Does the studio offer any other walk-in projects? Absolutely! We offer a variety of wooden door hangers for walk-in guests to paint with acrylic paint. These projects can go home the same day. We have a variety of shapes and sizes that range in price from $25 to $65, including supplies such as bows, buttons, and string to hang them wherever you like!
What if I have a group of 9 or more? If your party is during regular studio hours, we charge a $50 non-refundable deposit that will be taken out of your pottery cost at the time of checkout. For parties outside regular business hours, we have a minimum of $300. If your pottery cost does not meet this minimum, you will be charged the remaining amount to cover the cost of prepping our studio or event room, staffing, and clean up.
What about glass fusing? This activity requires an appointment scheduled in advance. Fused glass starts at $55 per person with the first visit and includes instruction to create a piece of glass art. Pieces can be fired to take the shape of a dish, upon request. Once you have taken a class or private lesson, you can schedule time to work on glass on your own.
Can we make pottery from clay? We do offer both hand-building classes as well as try-it, beginner, and intermediate pottery classes for teens and adults. Join a class or book a private lesson or party.
